Our year 4 visit!

Wow what a fantastic day! Today, Year 4 visited Liverpool Museum to celebrate and extend their knowledge of the Vikings.

During our visit, we took part in a fantastic Viking workshop. The theme of our workshop was invaders. We wowed John (our workshop leader) with our knowledge of the Vikings. During our session, we became archeologists. The children had four different tables to visit and a job to do one each one. On our first table, we were identifying what objects were made out of. On the second table, we discovered what Vikings used to complete daily life like a Viking. On the third table, we learnt about Viking language and what language was left behind for us. On the final table, we explored Viking appearance. We had the opportunity to dress like a Viking for this task. We were also able to explore weapons and shields. We also learnt about one of the most famous pieces of jewellery ever found – an Anglo-Saxon broach. In small groups, we were able to view this fantastic piece of history.

We also had some time to visit the Egyptian exhibit. We loved seeing the Egyptian artefacts and of course the mummies! It was a great way of reminding us of Year 3 learning.

At the end of the day, we had the opportunity to visit the aquarium and explore the living things. The children loved exploring this area.

We hope the children have been able to share lots with you about our day and would like to say how amazing the children were!
