Welcome to Year 3
Year 3 is taught by Miss McCurrie with morning learning support being provided by Miss Holland who shares her time with Year 3 and Year 4.
Welcome to our new year, Year 3! I I hope you all have a brilliant summer and are feeling refreshed, ready for a brand new year of learning! I hope our Autumn Term will be fun, exciting with lots of smiles, laughter and learning.
Our theme this term is Journeys and Discoveries as we follow the footsteps of Oliver on his unexpected adventure. For as long as he can remember, Oliver has been travelling the world, having exciting adventures with his explorer parents. But he's actually quite pleased when they realise they are no longer any blank spaces left on the map to explore, and decide to head home to Deepwater Bay, where Oliver can have his own bedroom and go to school.
But Oliver's peaceful life at Deepwater Bay is soon interrupted when his parents mysteriously disappear. Teaming up with some unusual new friends — a grumpy albatross, a short-sighted mermaid, and a friendly island called Cliff — Oliver sets out to rescue them. But first he must defeat the evil Stacey De Lacey and his pesky army of sea monkeys...
During the term, we will be learning about different countries around the world, map reading, finding out all about exciting explorers, creating our own huge wave and sea creatures and many more!

I am very excited about this term and I hope you are too. Remember to keep working hard, keep being resilient and keep trying your best because that's what is most important.
To help you be organised for the week, you need to know that your P.E. lessons will be taking place on a Thursday afternoon with Mrs Jenkins. Please remember to come to school dressed in your PE kits every Thursday.
Homework will be set and discussed every Friday.
Weekly SPaG homework will be set via SPaG.com. This will support classroom learning from that week.
TT Rockstars can be used to boost your times table knowledge!
Please record all reading in your reading diaries every week. Remember that every time you read you record it in your diary. Please bring in your reading wallets (reading records, read aloud books and response books) each day.
You can also try and read as many of the reading challenge books as you can! You can review this on our brand new reading website -- which can be found here -- Each review = A Headteacher's Award! Our website is www.y3reading.weebly.com
