Welcome back to school Y1 after a very sunny half-term break.
Our topic for this half term is the seaside. You will be delving into facts about the Victorian and Edwardian seaside whilst comparing it to seaside holidays now. You will be exploring lighthouses and will be thinking about what they are used for and how they work. You will even learn about the famous Grace Darling and the heroic achievement she made.
You will be focusing all of your learning around the book of 'The lighthouse keeper's lunch. This book will underpin all of our learning and will help us to become engrossed in the seaside. It will also kick start our next talk for writing topic!
For more information about our seaside learning please look at this term's holistic plan which can be found here
I am very excited for us to start our learning in this topic and to hear all of your wonderful ideas about the seaside. Always remember Y1 to be a superstar, work hard and always believe in yourself.

The children's PE day is on Tuesday with Mrs Jenkins. The children are expected to come into school in their PE kit and they will stay in this all day.
The children were given a writing bingo homework to complete over this whole term. A reward will be given to any children who complete all of their bingo homework by the end of the Summer term. Please upload this bingo homework to seesaw.
Please record all of your reading in your reading diaries every week and remember to bring your reading book and wallet to school every day.
We have a Y1 reading website that we encourage children to visit. The link is:
