Welcome back to school Y1! I am so happy that we can come back together to learn in the classroom again. I have missed you all very much but I am very proud of how hard you have worked during the lockdown. A huge thank you to all of your parents for helping your learning to continue from home. Each week, you have made me smile with your engagement to the home learning activities so thank you Y1. I am looking forward to now seeing your smiles light up our classroom.
Our topic for the next few weeks is animals in the zoo which I know you are so excited about. We will be immersing ourselves in amazing animal facts, the history of zoos and animal art in the style of Henri Rousseau. You will be focusing all of your learning around the two books of 'The tiger who came for tea' and 'Class two went to the zoo'. These books will underpin all of our learning and will help us to become engrossed in animals from the zoo. For more information about our zoo learning please look at this term's holistic plan which can be found here.
I am very excited for us to start our learning in this topic and to hear all of your wonderful ideas about animals and zoos. Always remember Y1 to be a superstar, work hard and always believe in yourself.

The children's PE day is on Tuesday with Mrs Jenkins. The children are expected to come into school in their PE kit and they will stay in this all day.
After Easter, the children will be given a writing bingo homework to complete over the whole term. A reward will be given to any children who complete all of their bingo homework by the end of the term.
Each Friday, an activity will be set on school jam so that the children can practice their math's skills at home.
Please record all of your reading in your reading diaries every week and remember to bring your reading book and wallet to school every day.
We have a Y1 reading website that we encourage children to visit. The link is:
