Implementation

Back home  /  Our Learning  /  Implementation

Building upon our curriculum intent, inspired by Matthew 5:16, "Let your light shine," we are committed to implementing a curriculum that actively fosters the development of each child's unique potential and empowers them to become beacons of positive influence.

Our newsfeed is updated weekly, sharing how the spark for a love of learning and of life is lit at Wybunbury Delves.

At Wybunbury Delves, we are improving teaching and learning through exploring how we can ensure our children are independent thinkers and learners in school. If we think of the brain as a muscle and intelligence as something that grows with exercise, we are asking our children to have 'lively' brains not 'lazy' brains. The Curriculum presents an opportunity to design learning that challenges our children to be part of the learning process as equal learning partners. In school we strive to create a Learning Culture. We want our children to have the disposition to lead and take responsibility for their own Learning Journey. They need to adopt a learning attitude that is ready and willing to think and learn with a sense of urgency and commitment. Children need to recognise that no-one can make that journey for them. Teachers organise visits to places of interest or invite visitors into school to give children first hand learning. We explore the wonderful opportunities our school grounds and the local environment offer to engage and motivate the children to enjoy and want to look after their locality (e.g. the Moss) with the support of local rangers and local community members. Children engage in a range of projects to enhance their learning experience.

Our implementation will be characterised by:

Creating a Culture of Discovery and Empowerment:

  • Diverse Learning Experiences: We will provide a broad and balanced curriculum that encompasses a wide range of subjects, creative arts, and practical skills, allowing our children to explore their interests and discover their unique talents.
  • Personalised Learning Pathways: We will strive to understand each child individually – how they like to learn, their needs and strengths, we will challenge and support to enable them to reach their full potential.
  • Project-Based and Enquiry-Led Learning: We will encourage active learning through projects, investigations, and real-world problem-solving, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and self-directed learning.
  • Celebration of Individual Gifts: We will create a culture that celebrates diversity and recognises the unique gifts and talents of each child, providing opportunities for them to showcase their strengths.

Embedding Ethical and Moral Development:

  • Values-Based Education: We will explicitly teach and model our Christian values – the fruits of the the spirit, integrating them into all aspects of school life.
  • Ethical Dilemma Discussions:We will facilitate discussions and debates on ethical dilemmas, encouraging our children to develop their moral reasoning and consider the impact of their actions.
  • Service Learning Opportunities: We will provide opportunities for our children to engage in community projects and contribute to the well-being of others, fostering a sense of social responsibility.

Fostering a Spirit of Service and Leadership:

  • Child-Led Initiatives: We encourage our children to take initiative and lead projects that benefit their school and community.
  • Collaboration with Community Partners: We build partnerships with local organisations to provide our children with opportunities for real-world learning and service.
  • Leadership Development Programs:We participate in programs that develop our children's leadership skills, empowering them to become positive role models and agents of change – The Archbishop Young Leaders Awards for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

Cultivating a Stimulating and Supportive Learning Environment:

  • Engaging and Inspiring Teaching: We employ innovative and engaging teaching methods that spark curiosity and foster a love of learning.
  • Positive and Inclusive Classroom Culture:We create a safe and supportive learning environment where all our children feel valued, respected, and empowered to take risks.
  • Opportunities for Reflection and Growth: We provide regular opportunities for our children to reflect on their learning, set goals/targets, and celebrate their achievements.

Continuous Improvement and Evaluation:

  • Regular Monitoring and Assessment: We will regularly monitor our children's progress and assess the effectiveness of our curriculum implementation.
  • Feedback and Collaboration: We will actively seek feedback from our chidlren, parents, and staff to ensure that our curriculum remains relevant.
  • Professional Development: We will provide ongoing professional development for staff to enhance their teaching skills and deepen their understanding of our curriculum intent.

Through this implementation, we aim to create a learning environment where every child is empowered to discover their "light," develop their potential, and use their knowledge and skills to make a positive impact on the world, reflecting the spirit of Matthew 5:16.
