Year 5 is taught by Miss Pennance with learning support being provided by Mrs Whittingham
It is the Spring Term; our second term together. For the new year, and the new term, we are are travelling back in time to the Victorian era to join a group of unusual people. . . The Peculiars! The Peculiars are a group of misfits who work together to solve crime on the mean streets of Victorian London! Brace yourselves because this book is full of action and drama!
While the Peculiars were busy being detectives in London, many children had to work but some were lucky enough to go to school. Did you know our school was originally built just before the Victorian era began in 1822? Using this as inspiration, we will be learning about what life would have been like for the boys (it was a boys school back then) who attended our school when Queen Victoria was on the throne. Along the way, we will be learning many more things too. Check out our new Holistic Plan here to find out exactly what we're doing.
I am very excited about this term and I hope you are too. Remember to keep working hard, keep being resilient and keep trying your best because that's what is most important.
To help you be organised for the week, you need to know that your P.E. lessons will be taking place on a Wednesday afternoon for 1 hour. Please ensure all PE kits are in school and clearly labelled.
The children are expected to log on to TT Rockstars. TT Rockstars is a great way to learn your times tables, so please make sure you are logging on an practicing them at least three times a week.
Even though you are in Year 5, it is still vital to keep reading. Please read your 'Read Aloud' Book each night to an adult and record all reading in your reading diaries every week. Don't forget to record any reading of your 'Reading for Pleasure' book too.
You will be given a writing bingo board. When you have completed a writing piece, bring it in to share with the class.
