I hope you have all had a lovely Easter holiday and are feeling ready and refreshed for our final term in Year 4! I cannot believe that we are in our final term of Year 4 already. This term we are beginning a new adventure! We are heading further across the world to experience a new form of magic and adventure. Our books for this term will teach us about life in China. Our main reading book, The Firework Maker's Daughter, is about the adventures of a young girl who aspires to walk in her father's footsteps. We will also read and use extracts from a range of different books. I can't wait to delve into all of these fantastic books with you.

This year, our PE lessons will take place on a Thursday afternoon and you will be taught by Mrs Jenkins. This term you will be learning the key skills and techniques of Gymnastics including balances, rolls and jumps. In the second half-term, you will be participating in Athletics. You will apply your running skills to hurdles and begin to learn the skills behind javelin. Please ensure you have your kit each week consisting of a white or your house colour top, dark trousers or shorts and white or black trainers. We will also be continuing with the Daily Mile so please ensure you have trainers in school to change in to.
Throughout the Autumn and Spring Term, Year 4 have been taking part in Times Table tests and activities. The Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) is a key stage 2 assessment to be taken by pupils at the end of year 4 (in June). The purpose of the check is to determine whether your child can fluently recall their times tables up to 12, which is essential for future success in mathematics. It is an on-screen check consisting of 25 times table questions. Your child will be able to answer 3 practice questions before taking the actual check. They will then have 6 seconds to answer each question. On average, the check should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete. As a school, we are continuing to support the learning of Times Tables. We also ask that you do the same at home. Please continue your support your child to learn their Times Tables and access TimesTable Rockstars as much as possible.
Please record all reading in your reading diaries every week. Remember that every time you read you record it in your diary. Please bring in your reading wallets (reading records and read aloud books) each day.You can also try and read as many of the reading challenge books as you can! You can review this on our brand new reading website!
