The Church of England's vision for education (2016) is deeply Christian, with Jesus' promise of 'life in all its fullness' at its heart. In line with the Church of England's role as the established Church, their vision is for the common good of the whole community.
Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do here at Wybunbury Delves. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our children to be confident, happy leading lights in our world.
OUR VISION STATEMENT: "We nurture a school community where everyone experiences a love of learning and of life; everyone is able to 'shine' and grow in God's Love."
Our vision grows from the Gospel of Matthew 5: 16 'Let your Light shine' The word gospel literally translates to meaning "Good News". In the Bible this refers to the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in the New Testament. This is the section of the Bible where you would read about the life and teachings of Jesus. Jesus shows Christians how to live through telling parables or stories that people can apply to their own life. The Gospels are so important as they are inspired by God. They reveal the true nature of God and Jesus and contain his teachings. The Gospels reveal the Kingdom of God. Christians feel that as they are a biographical account of Jesus by reading them they become closer to God and Jesus. For Christians, the Gospels (and the Bible as a whole) are a source of guidance. They may use this to help them make decisions or understand what they should believe about the world. Matthew 5:16 is within Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. In this sermon Jesus taught his followers the Lord's Prayer and preached to a large crowd about how to live their lives following God. At Wybunbury Delves we teach our children to follow in Jesus' footsteps – so where best to focus our vision from – Jesus.
Light gives life.
Light reveals the world to us.
Light symbolises the nature of God
We want our children to grow in God's light, lead the way by their good works, our character, our behaviour and actions.
How then shall we live?
As a Church of England academy – formally a Voluntary Aided School, we offer an education that is distinctively Christian. Although each church school are unique, all church schools will share core values based on the Gospel values. Church schools are places where loving God and loving our neighbours, is lived out in the daily life of the school. At Wybunbury Delves' we aim to serve our community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. We encourage an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promote our Christian values through the experiences we offer to all of our pupils. We strive for excellent relationships making our school a happy place to work and learn.
