Another fab week in year 3! 14.1.22

What a wonderful first full week we've had together! I have really enjoyed every minute.

On Monday, you started the week with RE learning all about how you know what to do in certain situations. You know that you have a guide in Jesus and the bible but decided it wasn't always easy to do the right thing. In music you looked at FGA and B on our glockenspiels and used them to answer musical questions. You started to learn your new song which is in two parts. We enjoyed singing this song very much.

In English this week, we had an interesting visitor which made a big mess in our classroom. We have learnt our new story 'The Monstrous Mummy' and learnt all the actions to go along with it. We started to look at our three targets for this piece which are fronted adverbials, expanded noun phrases and long and short sentences. You have had lots of fun learning each of your new skills and worked hard in putting them into practice.

In maths this week, we have finished our addition and subtraction of three digit and two digit numbers. This has included lots of exchanging in subtraction and carrying over in addition. You have explored different word problems which have tried to catch you out!

In the afternoons this week, you have started your new science unit all about light and explored what is and isn't a light source. Ask us about the moon and if it is a light source or not. In history this week, you looked at the timeline of historical events and you added when the Egyptians took place paying attention to when the Ancient Egyptians were around. You also finished your big art projects and your sarcophagus is looking very much the part. Definitely ready for a mummified Pharaoh! This week in your HeartSmart lesson you talked about all you had learned in your 'Get HeartSmart' unit. We had to think about ways we have learned to care for our own hearts, and the hearts of others. Next, we began our new unit 'Don't Forget To Let Love In!' Letting love into our hearts, and knowing when people have shown us love through kind words or actions was our focus. We know when we do 'let love in' this strengthens our hearts. Bible Reference – The second command is this: 'Love your neighbour as you love yourself.' Mark 12:31.
