It's been another fantastic week of learning in Year 2. We've produced amazing handwriting, become super time-tellers and even had time to take part in some rugby!

In English this week, we had a series of lessons and activities to improve our joined handwriting. We learnt a new join called the washing line and it allowed us to join w, r and o to other letters. We used our new skill to write some beautiful sentences and ensure they were joined of course! Some of us even headed to the Y3 classroom to show our handwriting to Miss Holliwell and the Year 3 team, how proud you all were!

In Maths, we continued our investigations into time. We built upon our knowledge of o clock, quarter past and to, as well as half past. We used the practical clocks to build a range of times and hot quicker at this as the week went by. We then moved into looking at the stages of a clock in 5 minutes periods. We used our Power Maths learning to build upon our knowledge of this. It was brilliant to see your confidence of Maths building throughout the week. Keep it up!

In reading and phonics we continued to build and improve our reading fluency. We answered a range of comprehension questions and continued our book reviews too!

In R.E, we continued to build upon our knowledge of Judaism with a particular focus upon the Sabbath. We learnt all about how this is a day of rest and reflection. We learnt what a Jew might do on this day and shared the similarities with the Christian faith. We produced artwork of a boy or girl thinking about their Sabbath day plans. The thought bubble included Challah bread, family time and the Torah!

In P.E, we had a special visit from Mr Barker (Archie's dad!). He taught us so many amazing rugby skills from throwing to catching and even running with the ball. It was fantastic to see you all having so much fun and I'd like to say a huge thank you to Mr Barker fo giving up his time to come and help out at Wybunbury.

In Study Work, we completed our work from our DT unit on mechanisms. We finished our moving pictures unit and added the final touches to our levers and wheel mechanisms. Well done!

This week for our HeartSmart lesson, we looked at different ways to handle hurt or disappointment. We discussed ways we could overcome these. When we feel this way, we can feel stuck. We need to find ways to move forward. Using the traffic light system can help us with this. The colours we can use are: Green – Can I solve this problem myself? Amber – Do I need time out? Red – Do I need an adult to help me? We shared situations when we may have experienced hurt and how we dealt with it. Bible Reference – 'Love does not count up wrongs that have been done.' 1 Corinthians 13-4:5

During our worships this week we listened to a range of bible verses with key messages. Our favourite was picture news where we discussed Google's introduction of the skin tones option on their search. This led to great discussion about prejudice, inclusivity and what we can do to help. Very grown up, Y2.

Have a lovely Sunday,

Mr Dale
