We have had another fantastic week in Year 2. We've achieved so much in just four days from completing Study Work to focusing on fractions, it has been a great week!

In English this week, we used some time to complete a number of Study Work pages. We neatly wrote up some of our recount work on Chester Zoo, allowing us to create a brilliant page. We also wrote up our history work and completed a page all about the space race. It was great to see beautiful handwriting and presentation throughout the week, well done, team!

In Maths, we started the week by completing our length and height assessment. You were fantastic at using your reasoning and measurement skills to solve the problems within it. We then started our new unit on fractions. We looked at what a fraction is, moving onto finding halves and learning new vocabulary such as "numerator and denominator". We will continue this learning after the half term.

We also spent time taking part in a number of worships throughout the week. Our favourite was the Year 6 Celebration Worship. We found out the winners of the house cup and congratulated Charlotte, who won this week's Guardian Angel.

We had so much fun in Computing this week. We continued with our project work using Google Slides. This week, we added multiple images to our slides, as well as building upon the key skills we used last week. It was amazing to see your confidence in using Google Slides grow and you can now all add images, slides and text.

In R.E, we continued to think about the Kingdom of God. We recapped the values of God's Kingdom and then spent time thinking about the Lord's Prayer. We continued to build upon our posters and they look so good! We will use our posters within our Study Work books.

In Science this week, we started a new unit on everyday materials. We started by completing our cold task where we "had a go" at answering some questions about the topic ahead. We then got stuck into our first lesson all about the uses of everyday materials. We went on a material hunt around the classroom and thought about which material has the most uses. We decided upon wood and plastic for our classroom.

In French this week, we had a fantastic surprise. Jules' mum came in to read us lots of French stories. It was great to see you all listening so carefully and picking out a series of French words that we have learnt throughout our lessons. We then got to share lots of French books including comics, The Gruffalo and many more! Jules' mum even gave us all some French sweets to take home. I'd like to Jules' mum for being a brilliant teacher!

This week in music, we continued with our planning of making our 'Lumps and Bumps' song the best it can be. As we will be using percussion instruments to accompany our song, we placed these instruments into groups. These were instruments that we: shake, tap or scrape. We all had the opportunity to experiment with the instruments and to hear the sound they make. We then had to choose two instruments we thought would compliment the music of our song.

Have a lovely half term,

Mr Dale
