Wow what a busy week we have had with going to sports hall athletics and then sharing our wonderful work with out parents.
In English this week, you started to analyse the story of the Bog Baby. You looked at the vocabulary that the writer uses and some of the grammar. You used highlighters to find expanded noun phrases, adverbs ending in ly and similes. You then used this to complete your writer's knowledge. Towards the end of the week you thought about how the writer describes the Bog Baby at the beginning of the story and how they describe it at the end. Why did he change so much? Why did he get so ill? These were just some of the questions you answered. You completed a role on the wall of the Bog Baby and then used this to help you write a character description of the creature. These are fantastic!
In maths this week, you have started your new topic of money. You recapped what each coin and note is worth. You then counted coins and notes to find the amount. You have also shown what coins you need to make different amounts as well. You are becoming so confident at this and you all know what pounds and pence mean! In mastery maths you focused on how to put numbers onto an empty number line by finding the mid point first.
In RE this week, you learnt how Jesus performed miracles. You carefully listened to the story of the 10 lepers and how only one man came back to thank Jesus for healing him. You wrote a letter to Jesus in the perspective of the 10th Leper. These were fantastic!
In science, you recapped the 7 characteristics of living organisms using your MRS GREN acronym. You then built upon your learning by using this to find out if certain this were alive, dead or never been alive! You found this so interesting especially when you found out that most of the food that you eat has once been alive!
In history, you discovered so much information about Stone Age farming and how it all began. You were so interested in this and couldn't believe some of the tools or crops they used to grow. You created a super fact file all about Stone Age farming!
In computing, you learnt what an algorithm is and used this understanding to give instructions to your partner who was your robot. You learnt that your instructions had to be short, clear and precise.
You have had a very busy week and learnt so much.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Miss Haynes
