All aboard the naughty bus!!
We have had a super transport theme day in Year One today!
You came in all dressed up in your fantastic outfits. We had naughty buses, traffic lights, aviators, policemen and even astronauts. You loved showing your outfits off to your friends.
We started our day with a virtual trip on the naughty bus. Mrs VR read you a lovely story of the naughty bus. You were then set on a mission with Miss Haynes where you were given an iPad and a London landmark checklist. You went on your bus journeys to find all of the land marks. You scanned the QR code and listened to all of the facts about that landmark. What did you see on your naughty bus trip around London? Did you see the gerkin, did you see the shard or Buckingham palace? You had lots of fun doing this and learnt lots of facts.
After break time, you came into the classroom and shared the transport that you had brought in with the class. We then compared all of our vehicles and looked carefully at how many wheels it had, any exterior features and where it travelled on. You then had a play in the classroom together with your vehicles.
In our afternoon, we had a surprise visitor which was PC Nick. We were all very excited to see him. You learnt about all of the transport in the police force and about the job of police officer. You had super questions to ask PC Nick. Now, for the exciting part! PC Nick took you to his police car so you could have a good look at it. You were all super excited to see the flashing lights and noisy sirens. You then all had a turn to sit inside the police car....let’s hope that you never sit in one again!
We then finished our afternoon off with the film cars and some tasty popcorn.
What a brilliant theme day we have had. Thank you to all of the parents for dressing your children up in transport themed clothes. A huge thank you to PC Nick for coming in today to teach us about the police force and the different types of transport. What fun we’ve had!
