Wow what a fantastic term Y1, you have worked incredibly hard and settled into Y1 perfectly. We have thoroughly enjoyed our transport topic and learning about our courageous advocacy. You have also loved forest school and you were sad to finish your last session this week. You have all blossomed this term and I am proud of each and everyone of you.
Our last week was filled with lots of festive spirit as we celebrated Christmas together. On Tuesday we watched the pantomime.....oh no you didn't....oh yes you did! We were all laughing a long and you were mesmerised by the songs and dancing. On Wednesday, we came together to have our Christmas dinner in the classroom. A huge thank you to Dianne and Kim for cooking us such a delicious dinner! On Thursday we became dancing queens at our Christmas party and we just couldn't stop dancing...even the teachers! We played lots of party games and enjoyed showing off our party clothes to each other. On Friday, we had a Christmas quiz and we then came together to watch a Christmas film. You had some mindfulness time outside blowing bubbles with each other. In art, you finished off your clay tiles and today you took them home. In Re, you re-enacted the Christmas story and thought carefully about what we can learn from each part of the story.
Over the week, we watched the rest of the school in their different Christmas services and we loved every single one of them. We then came together as a whole school outside to sing the 12 days of Christmas all together. It finished our term on such a high!
I haven't sent any homework for the Christmas break as you now need time to rest. Your only 'homework' now is to rest, eat all the chocolate and sweets in the world and to enjoy your festive celebrations with your families.
In January, we will no longer have Miss Holland. I just want to take this time to thank Miss Holland for all of her help settling you all into Y1 and for all the help she has given to you. We are still excited to see Miss Holland on our Tuesday afternoons for her music lesson. We will now be welcoming Mrs Van-Russellt to the Y1 team who many of you already know!
Our Y1 team also want to say a huge thank you to all your parents for their cards, gifts and Christmas messages. It is very thoughtful and we are all feeling very grateful of all of your support.
Have a fantastic Christmas Y1 and I will see you all in January when I can reveal our next topic. I wonder what it could be.....
Please stay safe and look after yourselves,
