Merry Christmas and Goodbye Year 1

And just like that..it’s Christmas!

In English this week, we completed our final write as we wrote a fantastic set of instructions on how to catch a witch. We used imperative verbs and step by step instructions to help make our set of instructions sound fantastic. Well done, team!

In Maths, we completed our mastering number unit all about number lines. We learnt how to identify 5 along a blank number line. We also worked out how to plot different numbers using 5 or 10 as a starting point.

We also completed our heartsmart unit on don’t forget to let love in. We completed a lesson on healthy living. We talked about healthy habits and food. Well done!

With Mrs Whittingham this week, we completed an orienteering activity. We used clipboards and the new signs around school to find our way around a quiz – well done!

In DT, we completed our wheels and axles unit. This week saw us design, build and evaluate our final car designs. It was so fun to see them race. The wheels moved so quickly! Well done, team!

On Thursday, we had a fantastic topic day – it was lots of fun!

It was brilliant to celebrate our party day on Friday. We had games, food and lots of fun!

And just like that our time together is over. Year 1, you have been such a fantastic class, full of characters, personalities and amazing children. I have loved teaching each and every one of you. You have all made teaching such a joy and I will remember you as I enter my new school. Year 1, please keep being the shining stars you are.
