Happy New Year! I hope you have had a fantastic Christmas holiday. It has been lovely hearing all about them! This week you have made me feel very welcomed into the Wybunbury family and it has been lovely getting to know you all.
In English this week, you started the week by telling me 15 things that make you happy and that you want to do more of in 2022! These have been lovely to read all the positive things which you love to do and that make you happy. I am glad going to school was on most of them! On Thursday, we jumped straight into our new topic and wrote our first story about defeating a monster. Then you ended the week by telling me all about the amazing Christmas you have had this year.
In maths this week, you have been recapping all the new skills you learnt last term. It was great to see that you have all remembered how to use the column method for addition and subtraction.
In the afternoons this week they have been filled with big art, history and science. On wednesday we started our big art project by designing our very own Egyptian sarcophagus. You have started to create, as a group, your very own sarcophagus out of cardboard which we will finish next week. You also told me everything that you already know about our new topic Ancient Egyptians and what you already know about our new science topic of light. This week you have also had the opportunity to look at our new books for this term:
There's A Pharaoh In Our Bath! by Jeremy Strong,
The Gruesome Truth About The Egyptians by Jillian Powell,
(An usborne flap book) See Inside Ancient Egypt by Rob Jones,
100 things you should know about Ancient Egypt Jane Walker,
Who Built The Pyramids? By Jane Chisholm.
I cannot wait to continue to read these and learn more about our new topic new week!
I hope you all have a great weekend and I can't wait to see you Monday for our first full week,
Miss Holliwell
