PE News 9.6.23

Welcome back to our final term of PE for this year!

We have started our last unit, which is tennis.

We took the racquets and various tennis balls, rubber and soft sponge, and hoops on to the field and top car park. We began by rolling the ball around the racquet, keeping control and balance. We moved on to bounces on the racquet, just like keepy uppies! We started low, always making sure we didn't hit the ball too hard and lose control.

Years 1 to 4 moved on to the start of hitting and returning the ball in pairs. We flicked the ball off the racquet, let it bounce before our partner caught it on their racquet. Then they returned it the same way. If we were in control, we were able to move on to hitting the ball to our partners.

Years 5 & 6 moved into rallies, making sure that we kept control of the ball and didn't over hit. If we needed, we bounced the ball several times to regain control before we returned it to our partners.

We finished off with tricks! Many of us had some great tricks like, around the world, changing hands, bouncing on the edge of the racquet, spins and slices, so we all had a try of the tricks to see which ones we could master!
