Year 6 what a great week of learning you have had, from being fact file creators to autobiography writers and fraction masters. You have even competed in our home based town sports events. What stars you are.
We have worked hard this week to develop fact files on famous or inspiring people and then used these to become your chosen person. You picked a key event from their fact file and wrote this as an autobiographical entry. I am so pleased with your pieces and how well you used your skills from last week to bring these alive. From Martin Luther King to Anne Frank to Arianna Grande, you placed yourselves in their shoes and carefully created your piece using the first person. Well done Year 6.
In Maths this week we have been recapping fractions. We began by simplifying and quickly moved on to equivalent fractions. Using these skills you added and subtracted proper fractions and then moved on to mixed numbers and improper fractions. You have shown me that you have the skills to work through these tasks and we will move on to multiplying and dividing fractions next week. You completed your final arithmetic paper and proudly showed off your results. You should be very proud of them as you have tackled 10 papers during our lock-down period and your scores are amazing. You are super stars Year 6.
We have also tackled Spag.com and SpaG CGP tasks and ended our week with a brand quiz.
Our daily worship this week has focused on being thankful and having courage. What super areas for us to discuss. We have used fruits of the spirit to think about being thankful and a rainbow of courage to discuss different ways that having courage may help us.
We came to the end of Wolf Brother today with our final chapter and what a chapter it was. This story has had us on an emotional rollercoaster with an ending that kept us on the edge of our seats. Remember if you wish to read the next book in the trilogy, it is called Spirit Walker by Michelle Paver.
Well Year 6 what another super week we have had. I am always blown away by your efforts and responses to my tasks and I thank you for that. Some of us are returning to school next week and I know how excited you are. If you are not returning please know that I am here for you and we will continue our journey together using Seesaw and my early morning videos. Let's keep our fingers crossed for lovely weather and a socially distanced celebration picnic allowing us to go out with a bang.
Have a wonderful weekend.
