Year 4 Weekly News!

Another week done. I know I continue to say this Year 4 but I am so proud of each and every one of you. I love seeing what you are up to at home, the time you are spending with family and the amazing work you are doing. I could not be any prouder.

In our English lessons this week, you have two activities. We started with a secret mission to create acrostic poems to say thank you to the people at home who have been delivering your home learning. I was overwhelmed by the lovely messages you shared. Your second task, was to write setting descriptions of the Rainforest. This week's topic was great as it linked perfectly to our book we are reading – The Explorer. You started the week by recapping the different word types. You found examples of adjectives, verbs, adverbs, prepositions, nouns and pronouns within a piece of writing. You then created your own word maps thinking about how you could use these different word types to write about the rainforest. Later in the week, we thought about how we would use personification, adjectives and similes within our work. On Thursday, you wrote your setting descriptions. They were amazing and I have loved reading each one. We ended the week with a SPAG quiz.

We have had a super busy week in Maths. We have continued to recap fractions. You were set many challenges this week and all did amazing. We looked at converting between mixed number and improper fractions in word problems, found fractions of an amount and we ended the week by creating posters to showcase everything we had learnt.

I am really looking forward to seeing what you all get up to next week.
