We have completed our first full week in Year 3 and what a fun packed week it's been! We started the week with a music lesson and we were introduced to the instrument the ukulele! We each had one and had so much fun. We will be carrying on playing these each term – photos to follow next week!
We continued to fact find this week in our English lessons where we read and found facts about green sea turtles. You organised and ordered your facts to present them as a fact file and used different sentence openers to make your writing more interesting to the reader. I have loved reading them all. It's been so lovely seeing all of your amazing writing again in class!
In spellings, we continued with the Read Write Inc spellings programme focusing on the spelling pattern 'wr'. It has been great to see some of these words used in your writing this week too.
In maths, we have used this week as a recap week. We recapped some place value lessons from last week and looked at fact families when learning our times tables. Next week we will move on to fractions which we missed during lockdown of Year 2. I already know how well you are going to do with this as you have come back with a fantastic learning attitude and have been such grown up year 3s.
We have spent the afternoons finishing our big art, going to forest school and building dens and completing the daily mile. Our huge jellyfish is now complete made of recycled materials and it is hung in pride of place with our huge wave.
Mr Hadfield of Forest Schools commented on your great attitude and grown up behaviour in your forest school session where you enjoyed building dens amongst other things. I am already looking forward to Wednesday for our next session!
We have learnt to doodle in our Mindfulness Monday lesson whilst listening to some calming music and watching the turtles swim in the sea on the big screen. We also wrote down how this made us feel.
Hope you've had a relaxing weekend in the sunshine.
