What another very busy week we have had!
In English this week we have been using our class story map to learn our story, and what a fantastic job you have been doing. We can now retell the story using actions from memory. Take a look at the pictures. Can you remember the beginning of the story? Can you share it with your family at home? Using our story map to help us, we have had fun today as we have planned our own story which we can't wait to get writing next week! We have also been learning all about nouns and finding out how we can add descriptive words to them which makes our writing more exciting.
In Maths, we have been ordering and comparing numbers. We have needed to use our knowledge of place value to look at how big our tens digit were, and to see how big our ones digit were. Your School Jam homework tasks links to this, so you'll be able to practice your skills.
In our afternoon sessions, we have been learning how to play different notes on our recorders. In R.E, we were introduced to a new story in the bible – The Good Samaritan. Did you know that this is a special story which is called a parable? It's called a parable because Jesus tells us this story. On Tuesday, we learnt all about the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh. Did you know that he only sold two paintings whilst he was alive? You did your HeartSmart and P.E lesson with Miss Holland on Wednesday, and on Thursday we did computing. We learnt all about how to stay safe online. Our top tips were: make sure an adult knows you are going online; only use websites and apps that are meant for children and be in the same room as an adult when you are using the internet. Finally, on Friday, we finished our week by learning all about the continents. We learnt their names and what they looked like. We then had a go at making them out of clay. This was lots of fun!
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you for a brilliant week Year 2,
