Another week has flown by!

In our busy week, we have been doing many things. In Maths, we finished our work on statistics. We are now confident at creating and reading tally charts, pictograms and block graphs. We even used our knowledge to solve word problems. Impressive work team.

In English, we picked up where we left off and carried on learning our Talk4Writing story which is liked to Cave Baby by Julia Donaldson. We can now retell the story with confidence. We have also been unpicking some of the exciting vocabulary we have found within the story too. We know lots of new words and can't wait to use them in our writing. As part of our lessons, we have also been learning about homophones. Can you remember what they are? Two words that sound the same or similar but mean something different.

In our afternoons, we started the week off by learning about the different food groups. We learnt that we need to eat a variety of food to stay healthy. We also learnt that having a healthy life is not just about eating healthy. It's also about keeping moving and keeping our minds healthy too.

On Tuesday, Art was our focus. We played pictionary and had great fun guessing what the meaning of our pictures was. This led on to us talking about how pictures have been used to convey meanings for thousands of years. The very first pictures can be found on walls within caves and these are called cave paintings. On Friday, we looked at different cave paintings and had a go a drawing our own.

On Wednesday, it was finally time to do our rocket experiment! We went out onto the playground and launched each of our rockets to see which would go the furthest. There were a lot of giggles and lots of excitement as the rockets blasted off in unexpected directions. We then went back into the classroom to determine which combination worked the best. We concluded that a small bottle, more than one tablet and boiling water made the rocket blast the furthest.

For music this week, you continued learning how to play the ukulele. You are mastering your finger placement and will be experts in no time! In your HeartSmart lesson, you learnt about the things that can weigh our hearts down and the things you can do to help your heart lift back up again. You had lots of fun with Miss Holland as you used a balloon to demonstrate this.

Finally on Friday, you learnt about long jump in your P.E lesson with Sportscape.

I hope you are having a great weekend!

See you tomorrow,

Miss Pennance
