Year 2 News
Happy Friday Everybody!
We have had a wonderful week of well-being and learning. Each day you have completed an activity to celebrate how unique, amazing and truly special each one of you is. Take a look at the pictures to see a sample of the wonderful work you created. I know that both Mrs Parker and I have loved seeing each and every single on of them. Thank you! Today we paused our learning for a whole day of well-being! You were creative, artistic and explored the outdoors. I hope you had fun.
Even though we have had a well deserved day of well-being today, we have been very busy learning in the week too. In English, we started a new topic about super heroes. At the beginning of the week, we enjoyed the story and completed reading and vocabulary challenges to help us explore the text. Then we moved on to turning ourselves into superheros! It was a fun challenge. You came up with your own names, symbols and super powers.
In Maths, we continued with multiplication. We have been using arrays to help us and have started to learn how to count in 2s (the two times table). You have worked extremely hard on this, and I am very proud of how you have used your knowledge of making equal groups to help you. Well done.
In our optional afternoon tasks, we did P.E on Monday. You focused on balances as part of a gymnastics challenge. You were then asked to use your arms, legs, bodies and balancing skills to spell out words. It was lovely to see how creative you were and to read the words you created. Well done. On Tuesday, we returned to Geography. You recapped your excellent knowledge of the seven continents, and then delved deeper by learning about one continent in particular . . . Europe! You did an excellent job matching up the famous landmarks to their countries. On Wednesday, we had our last formal learning lesson of the week. It was a music lesson. This week's musical challenge was to complete 'Step 2' or 'Step 3' of 'I Wanna Play in a Band'. Step 2 was great fun because it began with 'We will Rock You' by the mighty 'Queen. It was great to see you rocking out!
Thank you again for all your hard work! Mrs Parker and I are extremely proud of you all.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Miss P
