Y6 Final Week of Home/Provision Learning

Back home  /  News  /  Y6 Final Week of Home/Provision Learning

Another fantastic week of home and school provision learning has taken place in Y6 this week. Well done Y6. You have now come to the end of learning remotely and I can't wait for us all to be back together as a team again. We ended our time together with a whole class zoom and it was truly lovely seeing you all in one place.

Maths has challenged us this week as we have taken on converting fractions from decimals into decimal fractions. We have begun to work with decimals to 4 dp and we are learning how to round to 3dp. We will continue to work on this area when we return to school. We have played on TT Rock Stars and we have completed an arithmetic paper too.

In English this week we have concentrated on instructional writing as we are going to join together with our friends in other classes to create a Wybunbury Delves Lockdown Recipe Book. We began by thinking about the features of different types of instructions, from online games to making origami animals and flowers. We have also followed instructions to make or bake our favourite foods. You have made some amazing creations and I have loved all your photos you have shared with me on Seesaw. You have then drafted your recipe instructions ready to use when you return to school.

Well, what can I say about Book Club this week? We have enjoyed so many different activities as we have celebrated World Book Day all week. You have chosen the books you would like to buy with your vouchers (these will be given to you on Monday), you have created a well-known moment from your favourite book, you have created your own mask and you have also made a Story in a Jar. I think the event of the week has been the teachers sharing their books with you as masked readers and you guessing who is under each mask. I know how much you enjoyed this activity. So many of you guessed my banana split disguise!! I wonder what gave it away.

We have also dipped into many different afternoon activities as you enjoyed History – where you continued to look at Prehistory. This week you focused on cave art. In Geography you investigated tundra and understood that there are two types. You have taken part in PE. You have also continued to learn about living things in Science and you have had some well-earned wellbeing time.

Y6 you are just superstars. Thank you for always bringing a smile to my face. You go above and beyond with my activities and you amaze me with the ideas you come up with. I am very proud of each and every one of you and feel blessed to be your teacher.

Have a wonderful weekend and I will see you all on Monday morning (in your PE kits) ready to enjoy our WW2 topic together.

Your teacher,
Mrs. B.
