Welcome back Year 2!
I hope you all had a wonderful half term. It has been lovely to see so many of you being busy bees and getting straight back into online learning. I am proud of you Year 2!
In maths this week, we have been continuing with our multiplication and division unit. We have learnt how to do division by grouping and also by sharing with a particular focus on sharing by 2 in one of our lessons. We then learnt about odd and even numbers too.
In English, we began looking at a new story. . . Alfie's Star. It was an interesting story about how a star fell from the sky. We enjoyed reading the story this week, and we answered questions about it to enhance our understanding. We also learnt about compound words. Did you know a compound word is where two words (that make sense on their own) have been put together to make a new one?
Our afternoons have also been busy. On Monday, it was time for P.E. In our lesson, we had to create a dance. It wasn't just any dance . . . it was a superhero dance! It was fantastic to see your moves! On Tuesday, we jetted off around the globe and travelled to the continent of Australasia. We learnt about the different countries within the continent, key landmarks and the different animals that can be found their too. On Wednesday, we continued with our music lesson. We played games which helped us find the pulse of the song that we have been learning throughout the Spring Term. We then practiced singing the song too. Thursday was catch-up afternoon, and the final afternoon of the week had two tasks to complete. The first was a computing task. This was linked to the exciting news of the Perseverance robot landing on Mars. For the task, you were asked to create your own robot. You all did an amazing job! Our other task was a well-being one. We listened to the story 'The Dot' by Peter Reynolds and then created our own dots.
Thank you for all your hard work this week team,
