Welcome back Y6 to our final term

Welcome back my lovely year 6 children. I hope you have had a wonderful week and you have enjoyed the endless sunshine we were blessed with. As we now know, a return to school is not on the cards for us, but we can still spend time together virtually and by messaging each other. I know how hard we will work together to enjoy our final term. I know I have said this many times before but I am going to say it again, you never cease to amaze me Y6 with the effort you put into all my tasks. I am so impressed with the way you tackle new tasks and I thoroughly enjoy looking at each one.

This week In Maths you have moved onto calculating angles inside triangles, quadrilaterals and on a straight line. You have grasped this new concept brilliantly and used my teaching videos effectively. Well done. I know how much you like to have them and I will be sure to keep sending them to you. I am so impressed with your arithmetic scores as they keep creeping up and up. I know how proud you are of them and so am I.

In English this week we have said our farewells to Reverend Helen as we thought about the word spark and what this could mean when celebrating the time we have spent with her in worship. All your messages and videos will now be put together so we can share them with Reverend Helen. We have also been introduced to Eco Wolf and the Three Little Pigs as we continued this unusual twist on a well known tale. You used the introduction to plan the rest of your story using a comic strip. You then used speech to develop your plan into a story and finished the week with a front cover and blurb. Today you completed spelling and grammar activities and a reading activity all about Sir Tom Moore. You ended your week with our quiz which tested your general knowledge. You are all super stars.

Over your week I have seen other activities you have completed and some brilliant artwork too. You have even been chefs and bakers.

I have now completed writing your end of year reports and they have been emailed to your parents. Could I please ask for your reply slips to be sent to my year 6 email address to confirm your receipt with any comments you wish to make.

Have a fabulous weekend and see you next week.

Your teacher
Mrs B.
