Year 3 Weekly News

This week we've been famous fact finders, magnificent mental mathers and have done lots of fraction subtraction along the way!

Our week in English started with a focus on SPaG and in particular subordinate clauses. We completed a quiz and then rewrote some sentences using main and subordinate clauses, well done! It was then time to turn our attention to our theme of the week, famous and significant people. We each picked a famous person to research. On Thursday, we created amazing fact files all about our famous British person, they looked amazing! On Friday, we took the time to practise lots of spellings through different games!

In Maths this week, we switched our focus back onto fractions. We added and subtracted fractions today and did an absolutely fantastic job! We completed starters, challenges and lots of questions! We watched videos, played online games and were fantastic at visually representing addition and subtraction questions through bar models.

As mentioned, our theme this week was all around famous and significant people. Throughout the week we completed research work, religious role model work and superb sporting superstar posters!

There was also a reading challenge this week, whereby lots of the children read stories to each other, virtually of course! It was lovely to see you reading and to share your stories with each other!

Town Sports was well and truly underway this week on Seesaw, as we stretched off and competed in the virtual version this week. There were so many children uploading lots of different events, well done – keep them coming!
