We've had another brilliant week of PE. You have all been superstars!
Luckily, we've been able to almost everything outside and we've even had a bit of sun!
Year 1 have continued jumping. This week we have worked on jumping for distance. We've used our arms to help give us 'lift' so we can go further and we've been making sure our knees are bent when we land. Our challenge was to lie down, put cones by our head and feet and then try to jump our height!
Year 3 and Year 6 both continued with health related fitness. We worked our way around stations designed to work our strength, with exercises such as squats, planks and tricep dips and our fitness, with exercises like shuttle runs, track laps and star jumps. We finished off with some yoga stretching and Year 6 discussed which exercises we found the easiest and why. We decided that the sports and activities we did in and out of school had a bearing on the exercises we found easier, e.g. footballers found the cardio and leg exercises easier than arm work, whereas swimmers and gymnasts found the arm exercises easier. Great understanding Year 6!
Congratulations to Alex for completing his personal challenge booklet! Super job!
The Youth Sports Trust have launched a sports after school club online. The sessions run at 5pm Monday-Friday on their YouTube channel. They have great sounding sessions like:
Adventure Monday – This might involve getting children to do floor, wall climbing and map reading all within their living room
Tuesday Play – Imaginative play utilising resources in the house to create games and activities to get active
Wild Wednesday – Some high tempo competitive activities involving personal challenges
Thinking Thursday – Introducing cognitive challenges for children through movement. Active noughts and crosses and introducing an element of competition – whether that be against themselves, the clock, their siblings or remotely with friends
Fun Friday – A chance for children to let loose and have some fun. Dancing and doing what makes them feel good.

Have a lovely weekend!
