As our Autumn Term comes to an end, I would like to thank you for your full support in all that we have done and achieved. Our class have worked extremely hard throughout this term and we have embraced the challenges that have come our way. Although this term has been a different one, I am so proud of how much we have achieved. Well done Y6. You are stars.
We have completed many tasks in different areas of our learning this week, from adding and subtracting fractions in word problems in Maths, to writing our independent pieces for our setting descriptions and editing them in English. We have also continued with plurals in spellings and we have all read with an adult across the week.
We have completed our Art unit on sculptures this week. We strengthened our casts with papier mache and then added our sculptures of refugee symbols.
Our DT construction unit has linked nicely to our Art unit. We have measured our shoe casts to design and create a prototype stand. We have then considered butt and mitre joints and used wooden dowels to create them. Our hack saw skills were put to the test along with our knowledge of strengthening joints. Our shoe art will now stand proud on them.
In RE we have used different Bible stories to think about Incarnation. We thought about human qualities and Godly qualities to identify the different meanings behind each story. Children discussed the act of miracles and how hard they find understanding them.
Mrs Jenkins has taught PE this week and we enjoyed our last Forest Schools session.
We hope you enjoyed watching our virtual Christmas Service. We have watched different services this week during Worship and we have enjoyed them all.
We finished our term off this week with different Christmas activities. Y6 thoroughly enjoyed the pantomime whilst eating their goodies and our Christmas party saw us all playing our favourite party games. We have given and received Christmas cards and finished our day today with a film.
Please note there is no set homework for the Christmas holidays. I know I will be recharging my batteries and I'm sure you will be too.
Thank you very much for the recorded Christmas messages. They made me smile and cry all at the same time. I loved them. Thank you for all your kind words and gifts too. I will treasure them all.
All that is left for me to say is merry Christmas. I hope you all stay safe and enjoy your family time.
