During this week, we've been forest survival experts, super subtractions and Study Work creators. Oh, and we even made time to speak to Alex Staniforth, who attempted to climb Mt Everest TWICE!
In Maths, our attention switched to column subtraction. We answered a range of questions where we used our column subtraction methods to help us! By the end of the week, we were able to confidently exchange different place values to answer 4 digit by 4 digit numbers...
In English, we used our time to finish off our forest survival diary writes – focusing upon our 3 targets. Our writes were full of fronted adverbials, Y3/4 spellings and of course paragraphs! We wrote up lots of Study work with a particular focus on neat handwriting!
In Book Club, every child was read aloud with this week. We also spent time completing book changes and reading about some very important historical figures!
During History, we completed an amazing page on our Mallory and Hillary investigations. Everyone worked ha4d to ensure that their page looked amazing and was full of learning. On Wednesday, we spent time thinking about what questions we could ask Alex! On Thursday, we spoke to the man himself as we used Zoom to ask a range of questions! It was amazing to hear from someone with first hand experience of Everest!
It was our last Forest School session on Wednesday! We recapped all of our learning from the previous 6 sessions. We looked at fire, archery and created some truly fantastic shelters! What a brilliant time we've had! A huge thank you to Mr Hadfield!
During this week, we spent time thinking about Black History Month. We discussed why we have BHM, and we read all about Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks. It was fascinating to hear children's amazing responses to both historical figures. Remember that during half term you can upload a fact file about a famous black person in history! I can't wait to see them!
This week has been all about Study Work. We learnt that we now have one book throughout the year. We got busy prepping and creating pages for History, Art and Science and of course, Forest School! They are looking fantastic, full of learning and beautifully presented! You should all be very proud!
During Music, we recorded ourselves completing our Mamma Mia song using our body percussion. Well done!
This week also saw us become pumpkin heroes. We watched stories, sang songs and carved our own pumpkin using a "love" design. Check it out!
We also spent time this week on TTROCKSTARS battling away! We are getting really good at our time stables – remember to keep practicing! The battle finishes at 7:30pm on Friday.
Have a fantastic half term,
Mr Dale...
