Happy Half Term Year 2!

It's half term, and I can't believe it. You have all worked so incredibly hard this half term. Therefore, before I say anything else I want to say a huge thank you to each and everyone of you and the adults that have been helping you during the last six weeks. I hope you are feeling proud of all the new things you have learnt and achieved. You are all superheros!

And you actually turned yourselves into superheroes this week during English as we continued and finished our superhero unit. You followed instructions and created part of your superhero outfits, you designed your own superhero pet and finally you wrote your own superhero story. Mrs Parker and I loved reading these stories. There were so many fabulous adventures. Good work team.

In Maths, we finished our multiplication and division unit. Congratulations! You have done a brilliant job. You learnt about equal groups, sharing and the x symbol throughout the unit and have got to grips with the 2x, 5x and 10x table. This was just in time, as this week we took part in a TT Rock Stars battle against Breteton (another CDAT school). Although we didn't win the overall battle, I am still one very proud teacher! Why? Because our Year 2 team beat the Bereton Year 2 team! You achieved an incredible 470 points! This is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! A HUGE thank you to all of you that took part! YOU ARE WINNERS!

For our afternoons this week, we started off with P.E. This week was all about the sport of cricket! You practiced your batting and showed off your skills! Well done. On Tuesday, it was time for Science. In this lesson, you learnt about different types of trees. In particular, you learnt the difference between between deciduous and evergreen trees. You analysed their leaves and the key differences in their appearance. On Wednesday, R.E was our focus. This week you re-joined Rachal and Johanna and their Jewish family as they visited the synagogue on a Saturday morning to observe Shabbat. We then joined Sara who showed us around her Jewish home. Finally, on Thursday it was time for History and a well-being task. For History, Miss Emms, taught us about the some of the different ways in which toys have changed over time. You learnt about the differences between wooden, plastic and electronic toys and also looked at some examples of each. Your well-being task was to draw someone who inspires you. It was lovely to see these pictures as your inspirations included family and friends.

Again, I want to say a huge thank you and well done for all your hard work this term. I hope you have a wonderful half term break because you deserve it.
