Wow, how is it half term already? You have worked so hard this half term, and you have already achieved so much! You are superstars Year 2, and I am so proud of you.
This week in Maths we have been looking at addition and subtraction. We have been learning to count forward and back in ones from any number, and we have learnt how to add and subtract ten from any number too.
In English, we wrote our reports for N.A.S.A! We used all the facts we learnt last week and put them together to create a stunning piece of writing. They are very good! N.A.S.A are going to be seriously impressed. They were so good that we just had to include them in our first ever Study Work Book! That's right, Year 2 have started Study Work for the first time and it was very exciting. Our afternoons have been dedicated to Study Work this week, and in them we have learnt how to water colour and much more.
We have also learnt about Rosa Parks this week as part of Black History month. In Year 2, we couldn't believe that this was a real story, and that people were really treated like this. To us it seemed crazy and very unfair and quite frankly "not right". Rosa Parks' story sparked a great debate in Year 2, and it lead to some fantastic thinking. To quote Seb: 'Why do we have to be called black or white? We're all people.' I think you are right Seb! Our discussion also made us realise that we were thankful for her bravery and strength because Year 2 think Rosa Parks is one very impressive lady!
We have also had our first mystery reader this week! Thank you to Alfie's mum for reading 'The Dinosaur That Pooped A Planet' via SeeSaw. We loved listening to the story; it made us giggle! It has also been wonderful to listen to lots of you reading your favourite stories on SeeSaw too! We reading superstars in Year 2! Let's keep up the good work next half term.
Finally, we have also been busy carving our class pumpkin for 'Pumpkin Heroes' this week too.
I hope you all have a brilliant half term,
