On the week of the 27th April, your home learning task was to plan and write your own nature story for the 'Nature on your doorstep competition' created by Lucy McRobert. Your task was to write a short story on the nature that you can see from your home and you had a maximum of 500 words to write your story in. Many of you in school successfully entered the competition and all of the teachers enjoyed reading your super stories. Overall Lucy McRobert received over 250 stories from children all around the country. They had a winner and runner up for each of the three age groups. I am very excited to announce that Scarlett from year 1 was a runner up for her age group (4-6) with her beautiful story called 'The perfect tree'.
Scarlett's story was inspired from two sparrows trying to make a nest in the 'perfect tree' near her house. It highlights the wonderful moment when nature takes over our gardens and new life is brought into the world with '3 fat, fluffy sparrow chicks'. Her thoughtful and detailed description captures how close we can get to nature whilst our country is in lockdown. At school we are so proud of Scarlett and the achievements she has got with her beautiful story. In Y1, Scarlett is a very hard worker in English and loves to express her own imagination through her writing and storytelling, which is clearly seen here. Scarlett you deserve this and I think we can all join together in saying a huge well done to you. Your Wybunbury Delves family is extremely proud of you!
