A New Way of Learning in Y6

Home » News » A New Way of Learning in Y6

Y6 you are just superstars. There are no other words to describe how I feel about you all in these strange times we are living through again. You bring a smile to my face and laughter every day with the focus you put into all my activities. I am enormously proud of each and every one of you.

This week in Maths we took on the challenge of new learning. You smashed it Y6 and you have shown me growing confidence in tackling the concept of multiplying fractions by both whole numbers and other fractions. You are remembering your presentation and thinking about your layout. Thank you. You ended your week by applying your fluency skills in an arithmetic paper. Well done.

In English we began a new writing unit using Talk for Writing. You have learnt a new piece of modelled writing, you have created story maps and toolkits, and thought about showing the reader instead of telling them. You have worked on empty words to create suspense and you have chosen your story setting and your object to find. You have also completed an online spelling and grammar task and you have worked in your spelling and grammar CGP books.

In Book Club this week you continued to use The Perfect Planet trailer to answer comprehension questions and you have read and answered questions about Sir Tom Moore. You have logged onto Oxford Owl to enjoy an online book and used this to present facts on a top trump card. We ended our week by completing a crossword and working on different word level activities.

You have worked your way through many other areas of learning. You have been prehistoric fact finders, plant life cycle experts and biome learners. You have created a jar of happiness, taken part in different PE and Music activities and completed an hour of Coding.

As always Year 6 I feel blessed to be your teacher and I wish you a wonderful weekend.

Your teacher,
Mrs B.
