What an exciting week we have had celebrating World Book Day and performing our class worship!
We also had two WOW moments this week!
Our first WOW moment was celebrating World Book Day on Thursday. I was so impressed with all the effort you put into your costumes. You were so excited to come into school and show each other who you had dressed up as. We spent the first part of the morning drawing our costumes and writing about why we had chosen them.
We then began our World Book Day project work based on the story A Handful of Buttons. We learnt that the story is all about different families. It compares families to a handful of buttons. Just like buttons come in many colours, shapes and sizes, families can also look very different. Some families may have one parent, two parents, grandparents, adopted children or other unique situations. Even though families are different, the story shows that what truly makes a family is love, support and caring for each other. In the morning, you created some beautiful artwork. You each made your own house and used tissue paper to collage it, making it bright and colourful. You then added buttons and drew the people who belong in your house. Finally, you painted the front of your house using watercolours. These looked fantastic and showed how all of your families are different but filled with so much love. In the afternoon, you worked with Mrs Chesters to plan a diary entry about your favourite day with your family. Once you had planned it, you used your ideas to write your own diary entry. These were fantastic and really captured how you felt on your special day. You even spent some time sharing your book with Y5 and picking out a book from our book shop in the hall.
Our second WOW moment of the week was definitely our class worship on perseverance. I am so incredibly proud of how hard you have worked to prepare for this worship. You spoke in great detail about what perseverance means to you and carefully showed how you have taken on the role of perseverance leaders by teaching new skills to the Reception children.I particularly enjoyed how you retold the story of Rosa Parks and thought carefully about how she showed perseverance by never giving up on what she believed was right. We have learnt so much from our courageous advocacy work this term and now understand just how important our voices are. I am so proud of your acting skills, how clearly you spoke throughout the worship and your beautiful singing, which even brought a happy tear to my eye. Well done on such a successful class worship, superstars! A huge thank you to your families for coming to support you and for helping you learn your lines.
Have a wonderful weekend.
