The primary intent of the Wybunbury Delves Out of School Club is to provide a safe, nurturing, and inclusive "home from home" environment that extends our school’s Christian ethos beyond the standard classroom hours.
Our Key Objectives are:
Holistic Wellbeing: To provide a secure and friendly space where children feel happy, relaxed, and listened to after a busy school day.
Continuity of Values: To mirror our school’s core values—including trust, acceptance, and tolerance—ensuring that the "TeamWD" spirit continues into wrap-around care.
Support for Families: To provide reliable, high-quality childcare that supports working parents while ensuring children are ready for learning (via the Breakfast Club) or able to unwind and socialise (via the After School Club).
Enrichment & Choice: To offer a balance of structured activities (crafts, physical play, games etc.) and free choice, allowing children to "let their light shine" in their own way.
We translate our intent into daily practice through a dedicated team of staff and a structured yet flexible routine.
Core Elements of Delivery-A Nurturing RoutineBreakfast Club (7:30 am – 8:40 am): Focuses on a calm start to the day. Children help prepare a healthy breakfast, fostering independence and social interaction before being handed over directly to their class teachers.
After School Club (3:15 pm – 6:00 pm): Provides a transition from the formal school day. Children receive a light snack/tea and can choose between high-energy physical play, creative crafts, or quiet relaxation.
Staffing and Communication: Our OOSC is run by a dedicated team who liaise closely with class teachers. This ensures a seamless flow of information regarding a child’s wellbeing or achievements during the day.
Inclusive Activities: We provide a wide range of play opportunities, including access to the school hall and outdoor areas, ensuring children have space for physical activity as well as quiet areas for reading or homework.
Safe Transitions: Robust booking systems (via the OOSC email) and strict hand-over procedures ensure the safeguarding of all pupils remains a top priority.
The success of our OOSC is measured by the wellbeing and development of the children and the satisfaction of our school community.
Evidence of Impact:
Happy, Settled Children: Children demonstrate a sense of belonging and enjoyment. They develop strong multi-age friendships, fostering a "family" atmosphere across different year groups.
Readiness for Learning: Pupils attending the Breakfast Club arrive in class punctual, nourished, and mentally prepared for the school day.
Development of Social Skills: Through collaborative play and shared meal times, children practice the "Fruits of the Spirit"—showing kindness, patience, and respect for others.
Peace of Mind for Parents: Feedback from families indicates that the service is a vital support system, providing them with the confidence that their children are cared for in a setting that reflects their own family and school values.
Consistency: The close liaison between OOSC and teaching staff means that children receive consistent support for their emotional and behavioral needs throughout their entire time on the school site.
