A very busy and productive week
in Year 6 with many subjects covered. You are working so hard and I think you
are all superstars.

In
our Maths lessons this week we have shared our lesson time competing in TT Rock
Stars Battle England and we have also continued to work on our multiplication
and division formal methods.

We
battled hard this week against over 4,500 schools across the country as our TT
Rock Stars skills came in very handy. Wybunbury Delves Primary School came in
the amazing position of 683 and Year 6 were the top playing class. Year 6 you
ended up in 833 place out of 28,454 classes. AMAZING!

During Book Club this week we
have continued to investigate the Secret Annex of Anne Frank. We have used a
diary entry to think about how Jewish people were being treated and we have
begun to consider what the Secret Annex looked like.

In English this week we have continued
our unit based on the book, Story Like the Wind by Gill Lewis. We have read the
whole story now and chosen the characters and setting we are going to base our
own piece of writing on. We have written a short piece using illustrations and
chosen vocabulary and we have planned and written our first paragraphs to our longer
pieces. We created paragraphs full of our writer's knowledge and ended with a
transition sentence to take our writing from the present to the past.

We have begun a new unit of
spellings focusing on words ending in the letter y and what happens when we add
a suffix to them. This is our fifth area of suffix knowledge. We have all five
suffix spelling patterns on our walls to revisit as we write.

We
continued our Wellbeing this week as we thought about our favourite items. We
shared our thoughts and enjoyed adding to our journals whilst listening to
calming music.

Our
afternoons have been just as busy as our morning sessions. We have enjoyed many
different lessons.

In
RE, we continued to make our advent wreaths. Many are now ready to bring home
in time for 1st December.

Our
Geography knowledge has grown this week as we explored non-renewable energy and
the fascinating world of minerals. We used our background knowledge to learn
how metals can be extracted from minerals. We are looking forward to developing
this knowledge next lesson.

In
Science this week we continued to investigate how light travels in straight
lines. We used the idea of Leonardo di Vinci’s secret writing to prove that
light bounces off shiny surfaces in straight lines. We then went on to write
our own secret messages for each other to solve.

We
have taken part in two PE lessons and we
have also enjoyed spending time with our buddies.

In
Music this week, we practised our WW2 songs and dances in readiness for our
afternoon tea dance. Unfortunately, this was cancelled due to drainage issues
in and around school. This was hugely disappointing to us all and I will now
look at the school calendar to see where we can fit in another date.

We
hope to see you at our Class Worship on Friday 28th November 2025 at
3pm in school.

Have
a great weekend.
Your
teacher.
Mrs
B.
