On Friday, Year 5 went on our trip to Blist Hills. We had a fantastic yet very wet day. We started our visit with an intaglio printing workshop. We learnt how to use a plate to create our own printing stamp. Our designs were inspired by our Grotlyn book from our Art unit this term. We loved using the printing machine to bring to life our design. We can't wait to share them with you!

After our workshop, it was time for lunch. We couldn't visit the Victorian village without a trip to the tradition fish and chip shop. We enjoyed the addition of chips to our lunches and eating inside the Victorian public house!

After lunch, it was time to explore the amazing Victorian village. We enjoyed visiting each part of the village as well as being lucky enough to be told about how each room would have been used in the Victorian times. The sweet shop was a highlight as well as seeing what a Victorian school would have been like. We enjoyed seeing the different houses people in Victorian times might have lived in as well as the leisure activities they may have enjoyed. We were also amazed to see a locomotive engine which brought to life what we had been learning about in our History lessons.

We hope the children enjoyed the trip!
