Year 5 has had some brilliant learning opportunities this week. In our English lessons, we have been focusing on develiping ideas for our extended write. We have written a cliffhanger paragraph, gathered ideas for our writing and started to complete our plans. In our Maths learning, we have focused on more supportive mental rules. We have learnt about using assosicate law to reorder calulcations and using distributive law to mentally partition and multiply.
We have also enjoyed lessons in Computing, Art, Heartsmart, PE, Music, Science and RE this week.
Our wow moment to share this week is our Science learning! We have conducted an experiment to test whether air resistance is impacted by the size of the parachute. We made our own parachutes from baking paper in three different sizes. We then took them outside and timed how long it took them to the ground. We discussed and recorded the results of our experiment. We were pleased to prove that a larger canopy surface area collides with more air particles, creating a larger drag force thus creating more air resistance.
Maths.co.uk homework has been set.
