Happy Friday, Year 4!

Back on Monday, we got our dancing shoes on as we took part in a danceathon to raise money for 'Hope House'. You did a fantastic job and the dance moves on show were pretty impressive. School would like to say a big thank you for all of the wonderful donations we recieved.

When we weren't dancing, we were busy learning. This week, we have worked hard in maths to learn how to find the difference and do inverse operations, and in English we became authors as we embarked on writing our ‘Outsider Narrative’ based on the book 'Leaf'.

In spellings this week, we discovered that inter– means “between” or “among” and built words like international, intercity, and interact. We even learned that Internet means a network of computers that interact—who knew?

In our Wellbeing Champions session back on Monday, we continued to learn about the idea of happiness being a choice. We learnt the importance of turn taking, sharing and thinking about others. It was great to see how these skills helped you enjoy games of hockey, basketball and football.

In RE, we got the chance to be artists and explore how light is used in Nativity paintings. You looked carefully at how light draws our eyes to important parts of the story, and you have started creating your own artwork. You thought deeply about how Jesus is represented and added some really thoughtful annotations to your work. I can’t wait to see what they look like when they’re finished.

In Computing, we spent time learning how to log into GoogleDrive and GoogleClassroom as we will need to be able to do this when creating our podcasts. You listened extremely well and showed great resilience. Well done, team. We also learnt about digital citizenship and the importance of ‘Ring of Responsibility’.

In Science this week, we learnt about evaporation and in music you carried on learning how to effectively sing ‘The Song of The Polar Bear’.

On Friday, PC Nick came in to visit Year 3 and Year 4. We learnt about stranger danger and how we need to always make sure we are keeping ourselves safe. We discussed different situations when we might meet a stranger. We talked about what we would do. We had some great discussions and it was great to see you taking on board the important advice PC Nick was giving us

Thank you for another fantastic week.

I hope you have a brilliant weekend,

Miss Pennance
