Happy Friday, Year 4.

We have had a fantastic week because this week we had our theme day! It was amazing to see you all dressed in your incredible outfits. Thank you everybody (including your adults at home) for putting so much effort in. During the day, we enjoyed making Viking bread with Miss Smith. It was lots of fun working together to knead the dough. However, when they came out of the oven, they did not look like normal bread that we know and love. It was flat and more like a biscuit. I wonder what the Vikings would have thought of our efforts. You were then able to take them home at the end of the day. Have you tasted yours yet? Did you like it? During the day, we also learnt how to create braids using trollen wheels. In the afternoon, we moved on to broach and necklace making using clay. They look fantastic. If you want to, feel free to paint them to add colour and detail.

When we weren’t busy being Vikings, we continued with our normal lessons. In English, we finished off writing our outsider narratives, and we have now moved onto our next unit. In this unit, you will be learning how to write an information report. In maths, we continued learning about addition and subtraction. This time, we learnt how near doubles can help is mentally calculate.

In our afternoons, we enjoyed Geography, French, Music, PE, Science and Computing. Gosh, we have been extremely busy. In Geography, we learnt about the difference between weather and climate and used climate graphs to find out what the climate is like in different parts of North and South America. In French, we continued learning about the French alphabet. In Music, you enjoyed singing and in PE you continued to develop your skills. For Science, we learnt about condensation and in Computing we learnt how to be responsible online.

Finally, in our Wellbeing Champion session this week, we learnt about the 5 ways to wellbeing. These are: connect, be active, take notice, keep learning and give. We used this knowledge to complete mini games and activities.

Thank you for another fantastic week.

I hope you have a lovely weekend,

Miss Pennance
