Dear Parents and Carers,

We’ve had a fantastic and action-packed week in class! In history,
we concluded our Romans topic by exploring how the Romans transformed Chester.
The children learned why Castra Deva was such an ideal location, discussing the
importance of the port for potential invasions of Ireland and North Wales, the
River Dee as a vital trade route, and how Roman roads connected civilizations
across the UK. We also explored Roman numerals and religion and considered
their lasting impact on Chester.

In art, the children created vibrant Henri Matisse–inspired
artwork, using bold geometric shapes and bright colours. Their creativity truly
shone!

One of the biggest highlights of the week was starting our
swimming lessons. The children were incredibly excited to get into the pool
with their friends, and we’re really looking forward to developing our front
crawl skills next week.

In English, we were amazed to encounter the Giant of
Wybunbury Delves! After Mr Jackson reported mysterious CCTV footage
of a giant visiting our school field during the snow days, the children
discovered a toolbox and red scarf left behind. They produced excellent “found”
posters to help return the items. The excitement continued when the giant left
us a wrapped present the following day — a book called Grandad’s Secret
Giant. We’ve begun focusing our writing around this story and are
absolutely loving it!

It’s
been a joyful week full of curiosity, creativity, and excitement. We can’t wait
to see what next week brings!

Have a great weekend,
Mrs Roney.
