Year 1 have had a fantastic week full of learning, creativity and teamwork!
We started the week by receiving a very special letter from Noi and Grandma, who asked for our help feeding the birds. We carefully read and followed the instructions they sent us and were very excited to get started. In Forest School, we made our own bird soups, using natural materials we could find around our school grounds. It was lots of fun exploring nature and thinking carefully about what birds might enjoy eating. In science, we have been learning all about the human body. We labelled different body parts and played Simon Says to help us remember what we had learned. Art lessons have been very creative this week. We painted different patterns and textures onto tissue paper, and we can’t wait to cut them out and turn them into our final pieces next week. We have also been developing our computing skills by giving Bee-Bots commands to help them travel to different places on the mat. Everyone worked hard to think carefully about directions and sequences.
As part of Interfaith Week, we spent time learning about how people can have different beliefs and values. We read the story We're All Wonders, which helped us to understand that people may think, believe or look different from ourselves – and that this is absolutely okay. We talked about how the most important thing is having a kind heart and treating everyone with respect. To finish our learning, we worked together to create a kind heart chain for our classroom, reminding us that kindness links us all together.
Well done, Year 1, for working so hard and trying your best in everything you do. We can’t wait to see what next week holds! Have a lovely weekend,
