We have had a great week in Year 1 full of exciting learning and adventures. Our week began when Andy found a poorly bird, which inspired us to write kind notes to Noi. We have now met the bird from our story and learned how we can help look after it. We have been retelling the story using a story map and practising recalling the events in order. In Forest School, we became birds ourselves, building nests and hatching from our eggs. In maths, we have been learning subtraction by partitioning and using part–whole models to support our understanding. We have explored different types of weather, made our own rain gauge and investigated the direction of the wind. In computing, we turned into robots and practised giving clear instructions to direct one another. In science, we sorted animals into their five groups and compared them, spotting similarities and differences. It has been a busy and brilliant week of learning!
