This week was Science Week. This year's focus was curiosity. Our curiosity was ignited by the question ‘How do boats float?’ We learnt about the importance of surface area and buoyancy by completing an experiment. We had one piece of paper per team and some tape and we were tasked with the job of making a boat. We tested them by seeing how many marbles they could hold. We made two prototypes first and the made our third and final boat. Once our third boat was completed, it was time for a class challenge. Each took turns to see how many boats our marbles could hold. The ones with the biggest surface area did best proving that surface area aids buoyancy. Our winning boat held 78 marbles!
In English this week, you began writing your own information guides about how to hunt a Viking monster. It has been wonderful reading your work so far. You have done a fantastic job using the writing features we have been learning, and I have been especially proud of the effort you have put into your handwriting. In Maths, you started learning about division. You worked hard to understand how division works and practised solving different problems to build your confidence. Great effort all round!
We have also been busy with Art, RE, PE, Music and Computing.
I hope you're having a great weekend,
Miss Pennance
