Reception Class News

We have had a super-duper, action-packed week in Reception Class!

We jumped into our new story Juniper Jupiter and discovered that she is a superhero… but she thinks it’s no big deal at all! We love that she is super kind, super strong, super smart and super brave. We wrote some brilliant sentences describing Juniper and all the amazing things she can do, and we felt like superheroes ourselves while we were writing.

In maths, we turned into number detectives and explored all the different ways to make 5. Guess what? We found six ways! We discovered that 5 can be made with 5 and 0, 4 and 1, 3 and 2, 2 and 3, 1 and 4, and even 0 and 5. We were very proud mathematicians and loved showing off our clever thinking.

During wellbeing time, we used our imaginations and thought about who we would like to be if we could be someone else for the day. There were lots of exciting ideas and big smiles as we shared our thoughts with our friends. In RE, we explored the big question, “What is prayer?” We talked about what prayer means and how people use prayer to talk, think, and reflect.

In PE, we began our gymnastics sessions and had great fun learning different rolls on the mat. We practiced tuck rolls, egg rolls and pencil rolls and learned that all this rolling helps to make our tummy muscles strong and powerful. Rolling has never been so much fun!

Forest School was another highlight of our week. We pretended to be birds, building cosy nests and hatching from our eggs. We finished our session with the best treat ever — a warm, gooey toasted marshmallow. Yummy and perfect!
