We’ve had another lively and imaginative week in Preschool, packed with stories, movement, problem solving and plenty of hands on fun.

In maths, Concept Cat helped us explore the language of dimensions. The children learned all about wide and narrow, then put their new understanding to the test by hunting for the widest road and deciding whether the goal post was too narrow for the ball. Lots of brilliant mathematical thinking and language came to life through play.
Our storytelling has been wonderfully energetic. We retold The Three Little Pigs using real straw, sticks and bricks, listened to sound buttons to hear the pigs and the wolf, and even used a balloon to huff and puff the houses down. The children loved stepping into the story and exploring characters, sounds and materials.
We also enjoyed a fantastic Helicopter Story session. The children created their own stories and then joined their friends to act them out — a brilliant boost for imagination, confidence and communication
Our Heartsmart focus this week was all about friendship. We created a friendship web to show how we are all connected, and we shared the story of The Smeds and the Smoos to celebrate being different, being kind and belonging together.
Fine and gross motor skills were woven through the week. The children tore paper strips to strengthen finger muscles, and used sweeping brushes and bubbles in the rain to work those big shoulder movements, we also enjoyed Sticky Kids songs — zooming to the moon and moving their bodies in all sorts of energetic ways.
Tap 'a 'shape houses were a big hit too. The children practised careful hammering and pin placement as they created their own little homes, building focus, coordination and perseverance.
Our story of the week, Look Up, inspired us to explore pictures of meteor showers and talk about the night sky.
In the art area, the children continued experimenting with sponge printing, using different colours to create their own vibrant pictures.

It’s been a week full of curiosity, creativity and joyful learning. We can’t wait to see what adventures next week brings.
