This Week in Preschool we have been thinking all about gratitude and the many lovely things we can say “thank you” for. We talked about why being thankful is important and how we can show it to others. The children learned
the Makaton signs for please and thank you, and we listened carefully to our preschool prayers—thanking God for the food we eat, the birds that sing, and the wonderful days we share together.

On Monday we joined the reception class in the Danceathon to raise money for Hope House, it was great to start the week with a boogie!

In our Heartsmart session we played the Boris game 'All about me ball' where we took turns rolling the ball to each other completing the phrase "The best thing about me is....." Boris says, ‘There are lots of great things about me!’.

We enjoyed our story of the week, “Bear Says Thanks.” The children loved hearing how Bear’s friends helped him and how he showed his gratitude in return. It was a lovely way to talk about kindness, sharing, and helping one another.

Our Nativity songs have been a big focus during rhyme time. The children are practicing with great enthusiasm and their singing is sounding truly wonderful. We will begin filming our Nativity performance next week, so we are very excited!

For fine motor fun, the children snipped strips of autumn pictures, giving their scissor skills a good workout while also preparing for
some festive crafts.

We also enjoyed lots of storytelling fun. First, the children worked together to create a group story, using their imaginations to build characters and adventures. Afterwards, they moved on to independent learning, making their very own story maps.

We practiced recognising and building our names using our name jigsaws—this activity has been a big hit! We’ll keep working on it at preschool before sending the pieces home so you can enjoy it together.

In Maths, we explored sorting by two properties. The children sorted compare bears by size and colour and matched animal pictures by type and colour.

Outdoors, we made the most of the windy weather by chasing and popping windy-day bubbles, which brought lots of giggles and energetic play, we also had fun in the rain running and hiding in different shelters.

To finish off our lovely week, we talked about all the things we have enjoyed learning and the moments that made us feel thankful. You might like to chat with your child at home about the stories we shared, the Nativity songs we are practising, or something they felt grateful for this week.

We’re looking forward to another fun-filled week together
as we continue exploring gratitude, creativity, and the joy of learning.
