Well It's been another exciting week full of learning, creativity, and exploration! Here's a peek at what we've been doing.

We have continued our theme by reading "Walking Through the Jungle." The children loved imagining themselves exploring the jungle and meeting different animals along the way.

As part of our literacy focus, we created our own story maps. Using these, we went on walks around the preschool garden and school grounds, practicing prepositions such as under, over, around, through, up, and down. This activity helped them visualize their own adventures and link storytelling with movement!

Our rhyme of the week was "Tommy Thumb," where the children worked hard to show the correct finger movements--it's tricky, but they did a great job!

Exploring our Senses: This week, we focused on our sense of sight. The children used binoculars and magnifying glasses to look closely at objects around them.

We also took a good look at our own eyes in mirrors, and the children noticed how everyone's eyes are different. To celebrate this discovery, they painted beautiful pictures of their own eyes!

We have also had a look at our whole bodies, we have spent time drawing around each other and then added some features to our faces and colour to our clothes.

Math Focus: Prepositions
Our maths activities were centered around prepositions. The children particularly enjoyed the song "Where's the Monkey?", where they had to find the monkey hiding in various places such as in the drawer, over the desk, and between the box and the ball.
This was a fun way to practice positional language, helping the children understand concepts like "under," "over," and "between" while having fun!

We've been working on effortful control by exploring different musical instruments. The children played along to the song "Ready, Steady, Stop!" which helped them practice starting and stopping on cue--great for developing self-control!

Introducing Boris the HeartSmart Robot
This week, we met Boris, our HeartSmart Robot. The children listened to the story of Boris' beginnings and learned how his friends' love filled his heart. This was a wonderful way to introduce kindness, love, and friendship in our classroom.

Looking Ahead
Next week, we have even more exciting activities planned, including:
Introducing two new books: "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" and "The Colour Monster".
Continuing our music fun by playing more songs with our musical instruments.
Enjoying a game of Colour Match Bingo, where we'll focus on learning colours and matching skills.

This wraps up another week full of adventure, learning, and fun! Be sure to ask your little one about their favorite jungle animal and what they discovered about their own eyes.
