This week in preschool we have been looking at the change in season, we have explored the school grounds looking for signs of autumn. The children noticed that the leaves on the trees were starting to change colour and drop to the floor. They also spotted acorns from the oak tree and apples in the orchard. We picked the apples and have been enjoying them for snack!
We have also been exploring our sense of smell this week, the children took part in a 'smelling' activity where they tried to identify different smells. They were very good at spotting the fruity orange smell and all liked the smells of cinnamon and mint.
We also wrote our first oral story this week, the children picked the character of a little boy who was sad because he had lost his ball. When we finished our story they all chose to write their own stry maps.
For our Heartsmart learning this week we have been singing the rhyme 'If you're happy and you know it' adding our own verses and actions for angry, sad, shocked and excited. Boris says 'how we feel starts in our hearts' Bible reference 'Shout for joy to the lord, all the earth'
We have been looking at different 2d shapes, making large shapes for our display and using different shape cutters in the playdough.
We have continued to share pictures of our families on Seesaw with the children, and we have discussed who is in our family and how everybody's families are different. They really enjoy talking about you all!
Next week we will be reading 'The Gruffalo' story and learning the song. We will also be going on a hedgehog hunt and learning the rhyme '3 Little Leaves'
