This week in Preschool we embraced the theme of gratitude, got creative with stories and crafts, and celebrated a special day for Scotland. Here's what we've been up to:

Learning About Gratitude
This week in preschool we have had a lovely week where we have learned the importance of giving thanks.

We looked at why we might be thankful and how we express our gratitude. The children learned to use the Makaton signs for please and thank you and we listened carefully to our preschool prayers where we say thank you the food we eat the birds that sing and for our lovely day.

Story of the Week: "Bear Says Thanks"

We enjoyed the delightful story "Bear Says Thanks", which taught us about sharing and friendship. The children loved discussing how Bear's friends helped him and how he expressed his gratitude.

Nativity Song Practice
Our Christmas Nativity songs were the focus during rhyme times. The children are putting in great effort to learn the songs, and they're sounding wonderful! Filming for our Nativity performance starts next week, so stay tuned.

Fine Motor Skills Fun
The children worked on their fine motor skills through fun and festive activities, we have beenthreading cereal onto pipe cleaners to make bird feeders--combining craft with caring for wildlife. and snipping strips of Christmas pictures, sharpening their scissor skills while preparing for holiday crafts.

Storytelling and Name Fun
Using their imaginations, the children worked together to create two oral stories as a group. this was followed by some lovely independent learning where they created their own story maps.

We practiced recognising and building our names by assembling name jigsaws, which the children loved. We'll continue this activity at preschool before sending it home for them to share with you.

Celebrating St. Andrew's Day
And finally on Friday we celebrated St Andrews day, we painted Scottish flags, coloured in tartan patterns and danced a Highland fling! which brought lots of giggles and excitement!

Looking Ahead

Next week, our outdoor area will be fully accessible again! We can't wait for the children to enjoy plenty of fresh air, exploration, and outdoor fun.

This week has been filled with creativity, gratitude, and joy. Ask your child about their favourite activity--whether it was creating a story map, making a bird feeder, or dancing a Highland fling!
