This Week in Preschoolwe introduced our exciting new theme: Imagination and Fantasy Creatures.
The children have had a wonderful time exploring magical worlds through stories, games, and creative activities.
Our story of the week has been the Magic Train Ride, we have imagined where we would like to go on a magical train journey.
The children discussed the different places they would visit and the magical creatures they might meet along the way.
In Maths we have used our rhyme of the week – Five Little Men in a Flying Saucer to helpreinforce counting skills and number recognition in a fun way. The children enjoyed singing along and using props to act out the rhyme.
The children have also taken part in aUnicorn Hunt in the Preschool Garden. they searched for hidden unicorns and used numbered 1-10 sheets to tick them off. This was a great way to reinforce numeral recognition while engaging in a fun, outdoor activity.
We have also reviewed in, on, and under, and introduced the concept of between.
Our Heartsmart session this week was The Island Game.We focused on friendship and inclusivity, making sure everyone was included in our island adventure.
The children practiced kindness and teamwork, helping each other find space on the 'island'. Boris says "Sharing and playing together makes games more fun"
This week for Literacy we have started to explore alliteration, we played Silly Soup and Bertha the Bus to tune our ears into the first sounds in different words.
The children enjoyed finding and sorting words beginning with the 'm' sound.
It has ben a lovely week and we have made the most of this in our outdoor area.
The children have been highly engaged in creating a ball run using hooks and drain pipes.
They extended this throughout the week, using building materials to create tunnels and bridges.
The activity has encouraged problem-solving, collaboration, and engineering skills.
Inside ournew games table has been a big hit!
The children have been independently playing The Shopping Game, developing turn-taking, communication, and problem-solving skills.
The children enjoyed Dough Gym and Wiggle exercises to strengthen their hand muscles and they also took on the challenge of moving water from one tub to another using only sponges, helping develop their grip strength and coordination.
